Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from her remaining competitions of the year because of the illness she has been fighting in recent days.

At 22 years old was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to recover before starting her preparations for 2026.

Her upcoming training are set to feature her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have agreed to work together in 2026.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she lost in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

She was also playing with clear difficulty in the final set in the match with Zhu owing to back discomfort that has been a concern during parts of the season.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points before losing to Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.

She secured 28 matches this year and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way then falling in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.

The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with planned training sessions for the end of the year.

The athlete revealed that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round prior to losing to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
