Passionate supporters of Ariana Grande are calling for that a individual who jumped a barrier and grabbed the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A circulating video shows the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past camera operators and lunging at Grande while the performers walked down a yellow carpet flanked by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being taken in", though court documents showed that he was scheduled to appear on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account features clips of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last year.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is evidently a legal violation," stated an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Many supporters criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said another response on Instagram.
Some supporters also faulted security officers at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
In footage shared widely, Grande looked startled when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Many of supporters had gathered in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore venue, including a number who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it started.
The film, to be released on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-part version of the acclaimed stage show Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely bond between two very different sorceresses.
The musical itself is a derivative of the 1900 children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful movie of 2024 in the UK, and earned a dozen Academy Award nods, securing a pair for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
