More than 36,000 Sudanese citizens have evacuated since takeover of El Fasher to RSF, reports UN agency

In excess of 36,000 civilians have fled Sudan's Kordofan area eastern sector of Darfur starting Saturday, as reported by the UN's migration organization.

"Today, all our forces have converged on the Bara front here," stated an RSF member in a recently circulated video statement.

Local Inhabitants Describe Safety Fears

A area citizen of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, stated that the amount of RSF vehicles had risen substantially since the group's seizure of El Fasher.

"We ceased visiting our farms, concerned about clashes," the local stated.

Another civilian, who asked to remain unnamed for protection purposes, also reported that "there has been a substantial growth in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the past two weeks.

World Concerns and Requests

A senior UN official expressed concerns last week about "extensive crimes" and "ethnic-based retaliations" by RSF in Bara.

The diplomat warned of patterns similar to those in Darfur, where RSF combatants have been alleged to commit mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against certain racial groups.

The church leader on Sunday called for an prompt truce and the opening of aid passageways in Sudan, stating that attacks on civilians and impediments to humanitarian aid "are causing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's official envoy to Egypt on Sunday accused RSF of carrying out war crimes in El Fasher and stated that the Sudanese government would not engage with the armed faction.

The representative further urged the global community to classify the group as a terrorist organisation.
