Netflix Chooses Ideal Performer for Mr. 2 in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment

The Secret Organization is set to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the real showdown isn’t set to occur until the third season, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has just been cast.

Netflix announced recently that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece cast for the third season and will embody Bentham. The role possesses the power to morph into an identical duplicate of any individual they’ve touched with their right hand. Escola, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a rendition of that figure re-envisioned as gender non-binary, rather than as a drag queen, in the live-action series, as in the source material and anime.

The new cast member joins several other fresh additions tasked with bringing Baroque Works to the screen, including head Sir Crocodile, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as another operative, and an accomplished actor, who also joins the cast as the ruler of Alabasta.

Though Bon Clay is a major member of the organization, the character will be introduced in One Piece season 3. Given the second season likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this signals a major departure in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could signal further changes to the story’s structure.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a perfect fit for the character. Besides their recent voice performance in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised roles.

Netflix's live-action One Piece series is due to premiere for its season two on March 10, 2026.
